Attributed to Pieter Oosterhuis (Holland, 1812-1885): De Hal, Haarlem. Albumen print, circa 1870. Image size 3-7/8" x 5-1/2" on cabinet card mount. Oosterhuis was a painter who turned to photography by 1851. He became noted for his stereoscopic views on daguerreotype plates, on glass, and on paper. Andries Jager was a photographer and publisher. This particular image is from a series of cabinet cards published by Jager of various cities in the Netherlands, including some especially beautiful harbor and canal views.
