Attributed to Carleton Watkins (1825-1916): "Residence of J. C. Flood, Menlo Park [now San Francisco] California." Albumen print published by I. W. Taber, circa 1885. 4-1/2" x 7-3/4".
Built with a silver-mining fortune, this was the first of the Flood family's spectacular mansions. It no longer stands, but a later Flood mansion--in the Italian Renaissance-Rococco-Tudor-Georgian style-- is now a private school, used on the weekends for weddings.
